Hogan Lovells Asia-Pacific Data Protection and Cyber Security Guide 2022 and the Launch Webinar

Our Asia Pacific Data Protection and Cyber Security Guide 2022 will take you through the developments and key initiatives of APAC countries and discuss the implications of an ever-shifting landscape.

The APAC data protection regulatory landscape continued to develop rapidly through 2021, with much still to watch for in 2022.

The trendline in APAC is clearly towards stricter and more complex regulation, with China’s introduction of two primary pieces of data regulation, the Personal Information Protection Law (“PIPL”) and the Data Security Law (“DSL”), promising a new high water mark for data regulation in the region.

Speaking in very general terms, the movement has been towards closer alignment with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). The move towards this international “gold standard” has been seen as timely, as APAC economies continue to grow and become more digital. That said, the evolution of each national law in APAC necessarily reflects the specific policy aims of the lawmakers taking legislative reforms forward, with an eye to matters such as economic development goals, national security and a host of other issues unique to the jurisdiction.

What do you need to be doing to prepare your organization for the future? Our Asia Pacific Data Protection and Cyber Security Guide 2022 will take you through the developments and key initiatives of APAC jurisdictions and discuss the implications of an ever-shifting landscape.

Our Guide will discuss:

  • China's move toward comprehensive data regulation
  • Key legislative and regulatory developments: 2021 in review and looking ahead to 2022
  • "Data protection 2.0." and the rising tide of enforcement
  • Individual country data protection developments
