COVID-19 Preparedness Considerations for the Food Industry

As you likely know, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are closely monitoring the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), a respiratory disease that has been declared a public health emergency.

 At this time there have been no reported concerns of COVID-19 transmission via food or food packaging, according to FDA. Nonetheless, we are receiving many inquiries. We are issuing this memorandum to summarize key public health advice and to highlight some key issues to consider when developing a communicable disease response strategy.
