Digital Transformation: The Influencers Podcast

We have just launched another season of The Influencers, our podcast conversations with thought leaders from business, academia and regulators on all aspects of digital transformation and law.

How will AI, big data and asset tokenization interact with emerging laws and regulations? How to support innovation and progress without compromising ethical standards and the need for social responsibility? What are the stories behind new business ventures or legislative initiatives? And most of all: how to harness technological advancements to create wealth and wellbeing for all?

There are no easy answers to these questions. Legislators, regulators as well as business & industry organizations of all kinds find it hard to come up with solutions that are workable in the face of rapid technological advancements. Last week’s publication by the European Union’s legislator, listing all the various areas in which new laws and regulations are currently drafted in the sphere of digital transformation, makes a good case in point. Among others, this list of legislative initiatives covers (1) AI security & safety, (2) AI liability, (3) proliferation of chip/semiconductor production (4) cyber crime prevention, (5) internet platform regulation, including content moderation, (6) creation of a digital identity for EU citizens, (7) regulating crypto assets and (8) the fair taxation of digital services – to name just the most relevant ones. Clearly, there is work to do. With our podcast conversations, we want to share views and perspectives of those whose opinion matters in this context.

In our first two conversations, we speak with Knut Mager, Group General Counsel for data products at Veeva Systems about the next frontier of utilizing data in the healthcare industry, as well as with Jane Khodarkovsky, General Counsel of the Celo Foundation about the facilitation of financial inclusion by advanced digital technologies.
