HL Tech and Tel: China’s regulation of international data transfers

For the latest installment of our HL Tech and Tel Tuesday series our Tech and Telecoms Sector Group Lead, Mark Brennan, interviews two of our strategic lawyers – Sherry Gong and Tong Zhu – on the latest developments in China’s regulation of international data transfers.

In the last couple months, there has been a flurry of activity in China’s regulation of international data transfers, representing the most notable progress to date in data protection developments in the country.

Our HL Tech and Tel Tuesday series host Mark Brennan connects with Sherry Gong and Tong Zhu from our Beijing office on these developments and what companies should be focusing on now regarding data protection policy.

“These recent developments really have a wide impact on all companies involved in the export of data from China regardless of whether these companies act as a data exporter or the data recipient,” notes Tong.
