Interview with Chris Kane: The Future of the Office Webinar

Hogan Lovells welcomed Chris Kane for a Zoom interview with our own Jackie Newstead, for a thought provoking, engaging and insightful look at The Future of the Office. Will the office return stronger than ever, will hybrid become the new habitual and how will the real estate industry address these challenges? How do ESG and D&I fit into the picture and has Zoom caused a welcome democratisation? Click on the link to the webinar attached below to find out!

"We need to work together to rethink the office to create 21st century workplaces which inspire employee engagement, foster creativity and increase productivity” -  Chris Kane, February 2021

How do we re-imagine offices to create effective and engaging workplaces while also leaving a more sustainable built legacy for the future? The last twelve months have seen seismic change in the way we all work, with not only the game changing but also the stadium itself. Buildings account for 40% of all greenhouse gas emissions so climate change must be high on the agenda for the future of the office.

Our webinar, which took place on 25 March 2021, featured Chris Kane, author of ‘Where Is My Office?'. Chris was the Head of Corporate Real Estate at the BBC, overseeing the creation of MediaCityUK in Salford, White City in London and the regeneration of a £2bn property portfolio.

Chris was interviewed by our Real Estate partner Jackie Newstead and they discussed how the “people factor” and the “property factor” can successfully interlink and how the office will look in a month, a year, a decade from now. The interview incorporated many questions raised by the audience in real time as the event took place.

Whether you are an investor, developer, lender, landlord or tenant, the future of the office will affect you and your organisation in myriad ways.  The webinar is now viewable on-demand here. Feel free to share this with your colleagues.
