In the National Minimum Wages Commission (CONASAMI) reached an unanimous agreement to increase minimum wage, resulting in a general minimum wage of $172.87 Mexican pesos per day.
Meanwhile, in the Northern Border Free Zone (NBFZ), which covers the northern border states of the country and includes 5 municipalities of Baja California, 11 of Sonora, 8 of Chihuahua, 1 of Nuevo Leon and 10 of Tamaulipas, CONASAMI also agreed to increase the minimum wage, resulting in $260.34 Mexican pesos per day. The same percentage will apply to the minimum professional wages in such zone.
The increase in general minimum wages is based on the minimum wage in effect in 2021, plus the sum of an Independent Recovery Amount (MIR) of $25.45 pesos for the NBFZ and $16.90 pesos for the rest of the country, and an increase for fixation of 9%.
These minimum wages will be effective as of January 1, 2022.
